| "Be a disruptor or be disrupted, the choice is Yours"., was the message shared by Padma Shri Dr. Saurabh Srivastava, Founder & Former Chairman NASSCOM & Indian Angel Network at a seminar organised by the Ludhiana Management Association on 23rd August, 2018 under the aegis of LMA Ludhiana Angel Network spearheaded by Chetan Pahwa and Jaswinder Bhogal. Dr. Srivastava a pioneering angel investor, serial entrepreneur who has personally mentored hundreds of entrepreneurs also a Padma Shri awardee spoke on the theme, New India's Engine of Growth: Entrepreneurship & Seed Investing. Srivastava spoke about the huge opportunities in the Indian Eco System, which need to be leveraged for breakthrough results either by entering new businesses or changing the way one is currently doing Business. He was emphatic in his message, that the only choice for the businesses now, is how to predict, prepare and lead the wave of creative disruption, as a failure to do so, could only lead to stagnation and eventually a failed business.
His mantra for LMA Members, was to make World Class Products at the lowest prices in India as the very size of our exploding markets would lead to economies of scale and large profits. He shared data to substantiate his belief that India offered the best opportunities for entrepreneurship due to a huge talent pool, large middle class population, penetration of internet, mobile density, digital infrastructure created by the government and renewed focus on the Start Up Culture in the society. Srivastava maintained that Entrepreneurship and Start Ups were perhaps the only panacea to our problems of Jobless Growth as the employment generation capacity and capability of Start Ups is much higher than that of Governments, Multi Nationals or Large Businesses. While appreciating entrepreneurs of the region, he also advised them to spot gaps in the ecosystem and convert these into opportunities which may in turn, trigger a chain reaction leading to jobs and perhaps also reverse the trend of migrating to Canada, Australia and the West by the youth. He also advised them to be open minded about funding from Angel investors and Venture Capitalists as this class of investors is more open minded about funding disruptive ideas and high risk ventures. He assured all possible support to start up ventures of the region. The session was attended by 150 Senior Industrialists, Professionals, & Executives.
Mr Kamal Wadhera, President LMA proposed The Vote of Thanks to Dr. Srivastava with the hope that LMA Members would explore the possibility of Seed Investing both as a beneficiary for business growth and also as angel investors in start ups of the region. Dr. Srivastava was felicitated by Dr. Paramjit Kaur, General Secretary-LMA and Dr. N,K. Aggarwal.
